Windows 98 2nd Edition or Windows ME Connection Instructions
1. Double click on the Connect to the Internet Icon on your desktop OR click on: Start>> Programs>>> Accessories>>>Communications OR Internet Tools>>Internet Connection Wizard.2. Select the option 'I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network' (It should be the last option).3. Click Next.4. Select I want to connect through a phone line or a modem.5. Click Next.6. Type 717 in the Area Code box if it isn’t already showingIn the Phone Number box type in the your local access #: Local Access Phone Number7. Take the check mark out of the box that says 'Dial using Area Code and Country Code'.8. Click Next.9. Type your Username (username@countryilink.net) and Password you selected when you signed up. (Be sure to use all lowercase letters and no spaces). Your password will show as stars. So, please be careful when entering this piece of information.10. Click Next.11. Type Country I Link for the connection name.12. Click Next.13. The next screen should ask if you would like to set up an Internet Mail Account. Select Yes.14. Click Next15. Select the option that says Create a new Internet mail account.16. Click Next.17. Type your real name for Display Name. You may use capital letters and spaces here.18. Click Next.19. Type your email address using lowercase letters and no spaces (username@countryilink.net where username is the user name you chose at sign up; Example: If your user name is susyq, then your email address would be susyq@countryilink.net).20. Click Next.21. For the Incoming Mail(POP3) Server type: mail.countryilink.net22. For the Outgoing Mail(SMTP) Server type: mail.countryilink.netYou will not need to change anything else on this screen.23. Click Next.24. Choose Log On Using. Enter your username (user@countryilink.net) and password that you chose at sign-up (Passwords are case-sensitve).25. Click Next.26. On this screen take the check mark out of the box that says 'Connect to the Internet immediately' (Some versions of the connection wizard do not have this option!!)27. Click on Finish.Important Notice: We Now Require Authentication when sending out email, too. This setting is NOT automatically set in Outlook Express. Please click on this notice for further instructions on changing this setting.Congratulations!! You have successfully completed your connection to Country I-Link. All you’ll have to do from now on to connect to the internet is double click on the Internet Explorer Icon on your desktop or click on: Start, Programs, Internet Explorer. Your Dial up Networking should bring up a connection box with your user name and password already in the appropriate boxes.
