Windows 2000/XP Connection Instructions

To Make An Internet Connection:

1. Open Network Connections—(To open Network Connections, click ‘Start’, click ‘Control Panel’, click ‘Network and Internet Connections’ and then click ‘Network Connections’)

2. Under ‘Network Tasks’, click ‘Create A New Connection’, and then click ‘Next’.

3. Click ‘Connect To The Internet’, and then click ‘Next’.

4. Choose ‘Set Up My Connection Manually’, and then click ‘Next’.

5. Select ‘Dial-up Connection using a Phone Line and Modem’ as the type of connection to create and then click ‘Next’.

6. For the Connection Name type in ‘Country I Link’, and then click ‘Next’

7. Type in your Local Access Phone Number, and then click ‘Next’:

8. Type in your Username (username@countryilink.net) and Password for your Account, and then click ‘Next’. (Be sure to type in your username and password using lowercase letters and No Spaces.)

9. Check the box for ‘Add a Shortcut on the Desktop for this connection’ and then click on ‘Finish’ to complete the connection setup. After you’ve clicked on ‘Finish’, your Dial-up connection to Country I-Link will automatically open. Click on the ‘Cancel’ or ‘Work Off-line’ button for now.

Configure your Email:

1. Click Start, then click Email-Outlook Express OR Start>>All Programs or Programs>>>Outlook Express.

2. If the new setup wizard begins, skip to step #4, otherwise, once Outlook Express opens click Tools, and then go to Accounts.

3. When your Internet Accounts displays go to the Mail tab. Click Add, and then click Mail.

4. Enter your ‘Display Name’. This can be your real name and can be typed using either upper or lowercase letters.

5. Click ‘Next’.

6. Enter your ‘Email Address’ (Example: username@countryilink.net).

7. Click ‘Next’.

8. Your Email server should be set for a ‘POP3'.

9. For the ‘Incoming Mail(POP3 or IMAP)Server’, type in: mail.countryilink.net

10. For the ‘Outgoing(SMTP)server’, type in: mail.countryilink.net

11. Click ‘Next’

12. For the ‘Account Name’ type in your username (without the '@countryilink.net part), if it is not already showing, then type in your password. Check the box to ‘Remember Password’. The Box for log on using SPA should NOT be checked.

13. Click ‘Next’.

14. Click ‘Finish’

15. If your ‘Internet Accounts’ box is still open, click ‘Close’

Important Notice:  We Now Require Authentication when sending out email, too.  This setting is NOT automatically set in Outlook Express.  Please click on this notice for further instructions on changing this setting.

You have now completely all the necessary steps to connect to Country I Link. All you’ll have to do is double click on your Country I link shortcut on your desktop to connect.
