Mac OS X 10.1 Connection Instructions

 

The following set of instructions will guide you through activating your Country I Link dial-up account on Mac OS X version 10.1. When finished, you will be able to browse the Internet, send e-mail messages, and access online news/discussion groups. Please be sure to carefully follow both the written instructions and the step-by-step instructions on the screen.

1. In the upper left corner of the screen, click the Apple menu, then choose System Preferences.
2. Click the Network icon in the Internet & Network section.

3. Select your modem from the Show popup menu if it is not already selected.
4. Click the TCP/IP tab if it is not already selected.
5. Select Using PPP from the Configure popup menu.
6. In the Domain Name Servers field, type: 205.160.192.2 & 206.105.201.35
7. In the Search Domains field, type: countryilink.net
8. Click the PPP tab.
9. In the Service Provider field, type: Country I Link
10. Enter the local Country I Link access number, which can be found on our 'Local Access Numbers' page, in the Telephone Number blank. Please note that Country I Link is not responsible for any long distance telephone charges you may have when using our dial-up services. Once you have filled in you local access telephone number click Next.
11. Enter your Country I Link email address (for example:  user@countryilink.net)  in the Account Name blank.
12. Enter your Country I Link password in the Password blank and click Next. If you don't want to re-type your password every time you log onto the Internet, make sure Save Password is checked.
13. Click the Modem Tab.
14. Select your modem from the Modem popup menu.
15. Make sure Show modem status in menu bar is checked. This step is optional, but we recommend it for convenience. It will a small menu on the top right of your screen that you can use to connect and disconnect from the Internet.
16. Close the System Preferences window, clicking Save when asked if you want to save the configuration changes.

At this point, you should try connecting to the internet either by choosing Connect from the modem menu (if you chose to show it in step 15), or via the Internet Connect application.

Using Internet Connect

Internet Connect provides a way to connect and disconnect to the Internet, a data traffic graph, and a quick way to edit your PPP dial-up settings. To connect via Internet Connect:

1. Open the Internet Connect application by clicking it's icon in the Dock. If you have removed it's icon from your Dock, you can find it in the Applications folder within your Home folder.
2. Click the Connect button at the bottom of the window to connect to the Internet.
