Tips From Our Customers
Visiting the Windows Update site on a regular basis helps keep things running smoothly. It can be accessed through the "tools" button on Internet Explorer. One other item that has helped me on numerous occasions is a little program called RegCleaner* . This is a free program and is a very small download. It is very easy to use and creates back-ups automatically. This program can be downloaded from www.jv16.org. Anytime you make changes to the registry, as you know, bad things can happen. This program relieves some of those concerns by creating backups each time you run it. There are two modes, automatic and manual. I have only used the automatic mode as this seems to be very effective and basically "idiot proof ". One thing I would like to mention about RegCleaner* , I usually run this program after installing or uninstalling software. As you are probably aware of most programs don't do a good job of cleaning up after themselves that's where this handy little program comes in. This really isn't a tip but rather some advice. Before I install any program I read a lot of reviews but not at the software developers sight as they can be a little biased. I prefer to go to www.cnet.com , this is where I download most of my software from. Most importantly is always back-up your system before installing software. It doesn't take long to do and it will save you many sleepless nights trying to figure out "what went wrong". Hope this can be of use to someone. Keep up the good work. - Larry Wileman
Looking for a way to not lose your email contacts, Return Path* gives friends, relatives and business associates a way to find you after a change of e-mail address. The best part is that it is completely free!-Matt Lock
I see you are adding links to your home page. I found some site that might interest you and your subscribers. I told you about the Langa list at the fair, this is a very good site for information ( www.langa.com* ) The second is a site that will test the security of your internet connection and also has some very good (free) software downloads to help with internet security ( http://grc.com/default.htm )- Lewis Boop
I just wanted to let you know that I'm using MailWasher* , a program designed to keep out unsolicited commercial email (otherwise known as Spam) and email viruses from your computer. It also allows you to preview and delete emails before you download them, like emails with large attachments or viruses. So you never have to download bad emails again. Plus a really handy feature allows you to bounce emails back to people so it looks like your address doesn't exist. So if you're getting a lot of unsolicited email or you gave your email address to the wrong person you can now bounce it back to them so they can take your name off their list. Here's the info on "Mailwasher* " It's free and easy to download and use, so do it now! Just click on the link below: http://www.mailwasher.net/download/ or go to http://www.mailwasher.net/ to find out more information about it.- Steve Wright
Looking for a free tool to help stop those nasty pop-up ads! The Google Toolbar* is a great add-on for Internet Explorer users that adds a Google search bar to your Internet Explorer program and automatically blocks most of those annoying pop-up ads.- Ken Mckee
I've come across a new tool to rid your computer of spyware called Spybot-S&D(Search & Destroy)* . Spyware is a relatively new kind of threat that common anti-virus applications do not yet cover. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you didn't intentionally install, if your browser crashes, or if you browser start page has changed without your knowing, you most probably have spyware. But even if you don't see anything, you may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging that is silently tracking your surfing behavior to create a marketing profile of you that will be sold to advertisement companies. Spybot-S&D* is free, so there's no harm in trying to see if something snooped into your computer, too :)- Bob(RevStumpy)
